Bio:
As an Ortho-Bionomy practitioner and therapeutic yoga instructor, Alex Moody is passionate about providing this needed support to help facilitate comfort, ease and self-awareness for her clients. The body is a collection of intelligent systems that often get stuck in patterns as a result of the things we may feel or experience in life. She is in awe of how Ortho-Bionomy is able to empower people in their body, mind and heart and is excited to share this with her clients.

Alex has lived in the Asheville area for over eight years and completed her 500 hr therapeutics training at Asheville Yoga Center. Alex Moody – Yoga Instructor

Alex Moody has been teaching yoga for over six years and is happy to call Asheville her home. She first discovered yoga in her living room in high school when her cousin Ralph, a cooler and older professional violist, showed her eagle pose. Not having any studios in the town in Northern Virginia town where she grew up, Alex first learned about the poses from the TV show Exhale with Steve Ross. Years later, while suffering from migraine headaches in graduate school at the University of Virginia, Alex began a regular practice.
Alex did both her 230-hour and 500-hour yoga therapeutics training at Asheville Yoga Center and graduated from Appalachian as a creative writing major (which, yes, she even uses while teaching yoga, yes). Alex is the Wellness Program Developer for AmazonAndes Sky and assists in organizing yoga retreats in Ecuador every year.

Alex is also available for one-on-one yoga therapy work and is currently training in OrthoBionomy techniques to work more fully with the parasympathetic nervous system. A self-proclaimed yoga mutt (and exercise mutt, she loves Pilates and CrossFit) Alex loves to learn about yoga from all different styles. She always relates to instructors who talk about their practice off of the mat and has studied with many instructors in Asheville as well as Michael Stone, Amy Weintraub, Steve Ross, Kathryn Budig, Heather Tiddens, and Bryan Kest.

Taylor Pollio – Functional Movement Instructor, Personal Trainer

Taylor Pollio began his career as a fitness professional in 2005 at Philadelphia Sports Clubs. Having certified through NASM and ISSA, he worked mostly with the Optimum Performance Model to ensure safety and appropriate progression of training for his clientele. Taylor knew though that with a more individual specific system of training and a more diverse skill set, he could get greater results for his clients and become a greater professional in a changing industry.

Taylor’s search for the ‘perfect system’ brought him to study Ki-Hara Method of Resistance Stretching. Ki-Hara emphasizes the development of strength simultaneously within flexibility. This revolutionary stretching system has been widely promoted by Olympic swimmer, Dara Torres. Taylor studied directly under Dara’s trainers. After completion of his Ki-Hara training, Taylor spent a month at SomaVeda College for Natural Medicine where he became a certified Thai Therapist. This gave him a greater awareness of the body/mind/spirit connection and awakened him to Energy Therapies such as Reiki and Breath Work Integration.

Taylor’s most recent work with the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT) allow him to assess movement patterns and muscle relationships before designing an appropriate exercise program for any individual. His work with Anatomy in Motion deepened his understanding of movement and gait even further. Taylor currently offers private customized training and group classes in Movement Awareness, Functional Mobility and Gait Training.

Anna Szymanski- Pilates Instructor, Personal Trainer

Anna Szymanski likes to joke that she has “exercise A.D.D.” (Oh look, something shiny!)  She has been involved in many and varied types of movement throughout her life, from gymnastics to ultramarathon to Krav Maga self defense to kettlebells to high intensity weightlifting workouts.  When she began taking Pilates, she soon experienced the wonder of Pilates results for herself, specifically as it helped to correct some asymmetries and biomechanical movement patterns from mild scoliosis.  Duly captivated by the transformative practice of Pilates and its duality of mind-body awareness, Anna obtained her instructor certification through PEAK in 2014.  Anna believes Pilates is the perfect centering, corrective, and balancing component to all other forms of exercise, and a modality that is relevant to everyone no matter what their health journey and goals!

In addition, Anna is certified as a Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and as an Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine.  Anna holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Exercise Science and is an adjunct faculty member at A-B Tech in the Health & Fitness Science department.

Tucker Waldron – Yoga Instructor

Tucker graduated from the Jivamukti Yoga teacher training.  Tucker is a devoted and passionate practitioner of yoga and hopes to open others up to what he has discovered through years of practice.  Through his pursuit of Yoga he learned to be more patient and less absorbed in results and expectations.  His teachers and his search inward have introduced him to vegetarianism and a healthier lifestyle while reuniting him with a spirituality and creativity he had not previously experienced.  To share these gifts and facilitate people on their personal path to enlightenment is his ultimate goal.  As a former Division 1 collegiate swimmer and now runner and rock climber, Tucker teaches from experience with the human boy and uses the wisdom passed down from his teachers to incorporate theory and practice in yoga classes.

A Michigan native who moved to Asheville from metro Detroit, Anna also loves creating art and being in nature.  Anna is honored to be a part of the Happy Body family and looks forward to being a source of education and empowerment in this journey we share in continually evolving to be the healthiest and most vibrant version of ourselves!

Graham Wesley – Herbalist, Yoga Instructor, Adminstrative Goddess

Graham moved to Asheville to explore the wonder of these mountains and the diverse beliefs and lifestyles they attract. Ever interested in practices that create space for deep healing, she soon began her study of herbal medicine with the Appalachia School of Holistic Herbalism and completed the Traditional Herbalism program in 2013. Graham continues to study with and learn from the brilliant practitioners and holistic teachers in the area in traditions including Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine, and medicine of the First Peoples, among others.  She values the extraordinary character of herbalism as a healing method that considers the whole being. To complement her herbalism practice, Graham completed her yoga teacher training with the Asheville Yoga Center in 2014. She has taught Happy Body Outreach Yoga for kids and their families in low income communities since 2012. Graham practices herbalism and yoga with intention toward wellness of body, mind, and spirit, and she finds great joy in sharing these ancient healing practices with all around her.
