We become what we practice
You may have heard the adage,
"We become what we practice."
An owner of a traditional fitness and wellness studio might use that quote to inspire clients to attend more classes and schedule more sessions in order to achieve a stronger core, more flexibility, or added relief from stress. These are valuable goals to strive toward, of course, but my curiosity lies in what we become as we attune our bodies through the movement practices of Pilates, yoga, functional movement; through regularly reminding our bodies how to relax, restore, and release with massage and Ortho-Bionomy; and through practicing conscious awareness of listening to the language of our bodies each day.
Recently, my studies have been awe inspiring in learning how our physiology is directly related to our ability to human with ease in the world. As we gain capacity in our bodies by moving more efficiently, breathing more deeply, increasing flow and space, and discovering more access to parts of our bodies that have been diminished, we begin to inhabit and utilize more of our system to respond to the world with a plethora of options. We practice new connections in our bodies and we become less stressed, more energized, and healthier--regardless of age, ability, or history.
One of our best strengths at Happy Body is our incredible team of dedicated and highly experienced instructors and practitioners. Our specialty is meeting you in a space of wide listening, to help you become your fullest, happiest self. We practice holding options of what might be possible, even when they may feel out of reach to you. I invite you to dwell in the possibility of what you might become this year. And then, come practice with us! We're here for you.
Cheers to all that we may become together in the new year.
Warmly,
Jessica
